Mindful Fit is a thoughtfully designed apparel collection created to meet the functional and aesthetic needs of women with Down syndrome. Each piece in the collection addresses common fit and sensory challenges while maintaining a polished, professional appearance.
The garments incorporate adaptive features such as elastic waistbands, magnetic closures, shortened lengths, wider neck openings, and soft, breathable fabrics, all tailored to support independent dressing and comfort. From a sleek blazer with magnetic snaps to a pleated skirt in cotton sateen, every detail was guided by research and user-focused design principles.
This project emphasizes the importance of inclusive fashion by blending accessibility with contemporary style, empowering individuals to feel confident, comfortable, and represented.

In life, that little "xtra" can make all the difference in the world. A little extra effort, extra time, attention or love. At Xtra, they are always looking for a way that they can make a difference.
Their mission is to create lightweight and comfortable clothing that properly fits and benefits individuals with Down Syndrome. A portion of every sale goes to support charitable organizations involved with Down syndrome.
This assignment involved creating an adaptive apparel collection designed specifically for individuals with Down Syndrome. The goal was to research and understand the unique clothing-related challenges that this group faces, such as sensitivity to textures, difficulty with fastenings, and the need for specific fits, and use that information to develop thoughtful and inclusive design solutions.
